I'm a freelance writer based in the north of England. My interests lie in heritage, tourism and travel - but I’m comfortable wearing many different hats when it comes to writing. Previously, I led on marketing at a world-famous museum and my background is in commercial copy for UK, North American and Australian clients across a huge variety of industries.
Animo PR website copy
Creating the copy for Animo PR's brand-new website involved industry research, branding work and interviewing the client. I wrote copy across 25 pages, including multiple case studies breaking down the client's work. I also wrote alt text for images, SEO page titles and meta descriptions.

A 1,800-word feature published in BBC Countryfile Magazine, examining the role volunteers play in keeping UK public rights of way accessible. For the piece, I interviewed a local volunteer group and facilitated a photoshoot.
Brontë Society Trustee Recruitment Pack
This project involved editing and polishing the client's content - and writing fresh copy - to create a recruitment pack for the charity's trustee candidates. I was responsible for both the copy and the design of the PDF in Canva.
'Explore Wharram Percy' magazine article
A 550-word article in the 'Special Interest Magazine of the Year', BBC History Magazine. For this piece, I travelled to Wharram Percy - a deserted medieval village in which a chilling discovery was made in the sixties.
Tide & Hive Hand Cream website copy
For this project, I wrote the website copy for a new, anti-ageing hand cream - and provided advice on website content - across three pages. I also wrote alt text for images, SEO page titles and meta descriptions.
'Explore the Piece Hall' magazine article
A 550-word article published in Britain's bestselling history magazine, BBC History Magazine. This travel/history piece explores the history of the last surviving Georgian cloth hall - the Piece Hall in Halifax.
'Explore Saltaire' magazine article
BBC History Magazine is the UK's bestselling history mag. The 'Explore' feature inspires readers to visit historical sites. My 550-word piece in May 2025's issue is a travel/history article on a 19th-century workers' village in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
Brontë Parsonage Museum website copy
Here, I wrote the copy for more than 50 pages of the Brontë Parsonage Museum's new website, and also created pages in the backend of the CMS. This project was carried out before I went freelance, while I worked as the Marketing and Digital Officer at the Museum.
'What’s so funny?' blog article
An article written for The History Quill - an organisation that supports writers of historical fiction. This article gives top tips on weaving humour into your novel writing.
Halifax to Haworth Itinerary
I created this itinerary to help tourists visit two museums in the local area on public transport. This is a project I completed before going freelance, while working as the Marketing and Digital Officer at a local museum. I wrote the copy as well as creating the PDF in Canva.
'What the streets of York can teach us' blog article
I wrote this article following a placement with Explore York Archives, highlighting social change in the city. The project involved primary and secondary source research in the library's digital archives.
